            After 18 years in general practice, David became a palliative care consultant in the 3 Counties Cancer Centre Cheltenham. After retiring from clinical commitments, he became Academic Mentor at Dundee Medical School with a remit to improve student support.
More recently David has undertaken qualitative research into medical students’ empathy.
         
    
        
            
        
            
                Teaching Interests
                David enjoys small group interdisciplinary teaching. He edited “Teaching Palliative Care” (2002), Radcliffe Press and led the Palliative Care Education Group Gloucestershire. David is particularly interested in incorporating medical humanities into teaching.
