A dementia care expert from the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ of Worcester will be giving a free public talk in Halesowen on Thursday.
Professor Dawn Brooker, Director of the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ’s Association for Dementia Studies, will be giving the lecture, entitled Dementia: The Biggest Health Challenge of the 21st Century, at Halesowen College on Thursday (January 23), at 4.30pm as part of the launch of the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Centre Halesowen. Run at Halesowen College, the Centre offers higher education courses in partnership with the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ of Worcester.
Professor Brooker will reflect on the impact that the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ’s team of experts has had on dementia care in its first 10 years, both nationally and internationally. She will also explore the direction of travel over the next decade.
Professor Brooker was last year named one of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Universities Top 100 Lifesavers in recognition of her contribution to the health and wellbeing of the nation and received a Lifetime Achievement award for Dementia Care at the National ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Dementia Care Awards.
Her team has led work to establish and develop Meeting Centres, which support people living with dementia, across the Country.
